Telehealth and online consultations
In light of new social distancing requirements due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Peninsula Dermatology is pleased to offer Australia wide Telehealth and online consultations in appropriate situations.
How do online consultations work?
Online video consultations are similar to face to face consultations with a dermatologist however they can be performed from the comfort of your home.
We are able to support a number of online video platforms including FaceTime, Zoom and Skype. In some cases it may also be a standard phone conversation.
During the Telehealth consultation you will discuss your condition directly with the Dermatologist and your skin condition examined via video. A treatment plan will then be implemented.
If needed, any scripts or pathology requests will be posted directly to you or faxed to your preferred chemist.
If additional testing is required (eg skin biopsy) this will be arranged face to face at the practice at a later date.
Who is eligible for a Telehealth consultation?
Any Australian patient can have a Telehealth consultation. Priority will be given to existing patients who are unable to attend their regular appointment. We are able to see both New and Review patients.
Telehealth works best for certain conditions such as ance, rosacea, vitiligo and other visible rashes.
Reception staff may check with the Dermatologist prior to booking the appointment to ensure a Telehealth consultation is appropriate.
Skin checks and assessment of potential skin cancers are best performed face to face and not via Telehealth.
How do I book a Telehealth consultation?
Simply contact reception on 9770 9788 to arrange a telehealth consultation.
Not all conditions will be appropriate for Telehealth. When booking your appointment, the staff may ask questions to ensure Telehealth can be used. If a face to face appointment is required this is still available.
What are the costs of a Telehealth consultation?
Please contact the practice to discuss the cost of a Telehealth consultation.
